Darren has a passion for discovering and exploring new woods. Through his practice he engages with the rawness and the texture of each unique piece of wood.  His work embraces imperfection, placing emphasis on the analysis and malleability of the natural form to create functional, textural objects. Through emphasising knots, cracks or lack of symmetry, each piece is imbued with its own individual story: a celebration of difference.

Darren is highly fascinated by Ghanaian wood carving and inspired by the different properties of both exotic and native woods. He is also interested in the adding texture to vessels by burning and embellishing the surface.

This exhibition is part of London Craft Week, which celebrates outstanding British and international creativity and brings together over 250 established and emerging makers, designers, brands and galleries from around the world. Find out more: London Craft Week
