Join us this summer for a series of FREE Family Learning Summer Holiday workshops.
Join storyteller Olivia Armstrong for a journey into the weird and wonderful world of the Tradescant Family, some of Britain’s earliest great gardeners. John Tradescant the Elder (c.1570 – 1638) was gardener to King Charles I, and his son John the Younger (1608 – 1662) travelled to America to collect plant specimens and succeeded his father as Royal Gardener. The Tradescant family tomb is in the courtyard garden of the museum.
In this enchanting and site-specific story, discover the history behind the origins of the Garden Museum, dig into an amazing gardening family, and explore their everlasting connection with the Museum we see today.
Using props and sounds, Olivia encourages everyone to join in and experience a fun, interactive and participatory historical storytelling adventure for all the family.
