Langford Down Farm and Oxleaze Farm
The intriguing garden at Langford Down was created from a blank canvas in 2009 and has now matured into a wonderfully interesting space with rare shrubs, water features, a kitchen garden and beautifully clipped hedges. The latest addition to the space is a ‘magic garden’ for children.
With a harmonious mix of early and late-flowering shrubs and summer perennials, the vibrant borders offer seasonal interest throughout the year. From the lawn, a succession of informal garden rooms combines elements of formality with relaxed charm, leading to a vegetable and flower potager. The addition of a pond brings further diversity, forming a ‘manageable microcosm’ of engaging garden areas.
After visiting the garden, we will then have lunch with the owners in their beautiful house.
The garden at Oxleaze Farm is the epitome of a Cotswold country garden and has featured in many publications. It has been lovingly created by the owners over the past last 40 years. With its many rooms, the garden is a skilful combination of formality and informality. Its billowing borders are filled with unusual plants.
The lush borders strike a perfect balance between early and late-flowering shrubs, summer perennials, and structured box hedging. From the lawn, a series of informal garden rooms blend formal and relaxed styles, leading to a vegetable and cut-flower potager, a decorative fruit cage, and a wildflower meadow with bees. A pond and bog garden add further variety, creating a diverse garden space.
