Tulip-shaped Trophy

This is a beautiful tulip-shaped silver cup with a delicate intertwined leaves and stem for support from a fluted base. It was awarded to individuals between 1912 and 1987; the names of winners 1912-1952 were engraved on circular silver plaques attached to the wooden base. Those who won the trophy between 1953 and 1987 had their names engraved on a silver collar encircling the base. It was part of the LCC and subsequently GLC Horticultural Society awards, perhaps for tulips, which were donated to the Garden Museum in 1988 when the GLC was disbanded.
