The W.C. Johnson Trophy

An engraved silver two handled cup standing on a black wooden base which was presented to the LCC’s Staff Horticultural Society in 1928 by W.C. Johnson. The trophy was awarded between 1928-1938 to ‘Novices’ and in 1951 for ‘Vegetables’. After the GLC replaced the LCC in 1965, the cup was transferred to the GLC Staff Horticultural Society and was awarded for ‘Pot Plants’ from 1965.  The silver plaque attached to the base records the names of the winners from 1972-1986. The cup was donated to the Garden Museum in 1988 when the GLC was disbanded.
