Engraved print of ‘Mrs Hester Tradescant from original in Ashmolean Oxford. In 1662 Elias Ashmole preferred a bill in Chancery agt [against] Mrs Tradescant to recover her late husband’s museum. In 1664 the Cause came to a hearing. In 1674 Mrs Tradescant delivered up the Collection pursuant to a decree in Chancery & April 1678 she was found drown’d in her Pond at Lambeth’. This print of John Tradescant the Younger’s wife was published by James Caulfield in 1798 after the painting attributed to Emanuel de Critz.  Gift of Mr Stan Robinson.
