Plant Science for Secondary Schools at the Garden Museum

My name is Samia Qureshi and I am the School Science Learning Officer at the Garden Museum, with over 20 years working as a post-harvest scientist in the fresh produce industry and am a qualified biology teacher.  I specialise in curriculum-linked sessions for Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, focussing on plant science and related topics.

I run these sessions in the recently opened Clore Learning Space which was completed in 2017 to accommodate school visits.

Our objective is to provide a hands-on practical experience to students of all abilities and to provide learning activities for schools which reflects the national curriculum and current issues in the field of plant science.

These sessions are low cost, but our initial pilot classes will be completely free of charge.

I am keen to engage students with plant science and to explore the opportunities for curriculum enhancement for students using the Garden Museum’s plants and resources as a starting place for numerous experiments and activities.

Email me at samia@gardenmuseum.org.uk to find out more about how we can work together to engage your students in plant science.
