Summer Family Session | Poetry and Nature Journaling

Join us this summer for sessions linked to the Summer Reading Challenge 2025: Story Garden. We will be going on a creative adventure, inspired by books in this year's Story Garden list. Whether you love poetry, using a microscope to observe minibeasts, or just want to read in the peace and calm of our Nave, we have something or you this summer holiday.

We may live in a large city but there is still lots of nature to discover, you just need to know where to look.  We will be taking a walk out into our Healing Garden to observe plants, birds and minibeasts then use these observations to write our own poems and start our own nature journals.

For this session we will be inspired by the following Summer Reading Challenge Books:

Wild by Katya Balen and Gill Smith

Leave the Trees Please by Benjamin Zephaniah Melissa Castrillon

The Children’s Book of Wildlife Watching by Dan Rouse

The Observologist by Giselle Clarkson

Summer Reading Challenge 2025: Story Garden is presented by The Reading
Agency and delivered in partnership with libraries.

Please note, in the case of heavy rain we will stay inside for this activity.
