Neighbours Day 2025

Get to know your local museum at our community open day.

Our annual Neighbours Day is back! Each year we open our doors to our local Lambeth community free of charge. So if you’re a Lambeth resident, we’re inviting you to come along for a day of free fun for all.

It’s a great opportunity to get to know the museum, whether you’ve been curious about the museum but never had the chance to visit, or you’re one of our regulars! Our theme this year is Garden Party, inspired by our ongoing Cecil Beaton exhibition, entry to which is included free of charge for the day.

Activities include:

  • Face painting for children
  • Gardening activities
  • Live music from Lambeth Wind Orchestra
  • Strawberry DNA Extraction workshop with our Plant Science Educator
  • A Tai Chi session in our Healing Garden
  • Family movement and dancing with Julia Korning
  • Herbal tea blending workshop
  • …and more!

See below for more activity details.

Activity Details

  • Tai Chi Session

    Tai Chi Session

Experience a serene, Tai Chi-inspired Breathwork and Movement practice in the tranquility of the Healing Gardens. Blending gentle techniques from yoga, Qigong, and Tai Chi, this slow, flowing practice invites a deep connection with nature through themes of flowers, the elements, and the surrounding exhibitions. As you move, you’ll draw upon the grounding support of the earth, the energising warmth of the sun, the gentle caress of a summer breeze, and the fluidity of movement. With a focus on soothing the muscles commonly worked by gardening, particularly in the lower back and shoulders, this practice can be enjoyed either seated or standing and is accessible to all. Join us for this rejuvenating experience that harmonises body, mind and breath, in a space inspiring creativity and calm.

  • Family Movement with Julia Korning

    Family Movement with Julia Korning

Explore the world of portrait photographer and set designer Cecil Beaton in this fun movement workshop for all the family inspired by the museum’s current exhibition: Cecil Beaton’s Garden Party. Expect raucous Charleston, beautiful ballet, and awkward family portraits. Enjoy moving and playing with other families, and spend quality time with your own Bright Young Thing.

  • Herbal Tea Blending

    Herbal Tea Blending

Join us for an introduction to the healing properties of a range of medicinal plants. The workshop will guide you through a number of culinary, medicinal and wild herbs and how to combine them to create seasonal remedies. As part of the session you will get to make some herbal tea bags to take home.
