Family Learning | Mushroom printing on canvas tote bags

Delve into the world of our our summer family exhibition, Growing Curiosities. Create beautiful, delicate prints using just the mushrooms themselves.

Inspired by Nicola Davies books GROW and LOTS and Emily Sutton’s stunning illustrations, we will be looking at the diversity of mushrooms.  Firstly,  experimenting with spore printing of different varieties such as portobello, shitake, chestnut and oyster. Using just the mushroom itself we will see how beautiful, delicate prints can be made.

We will then create “bouquet” prints using several varieties onto canvas tote bags for you to take away.

We will be using fabric paint which stains, please ensure old clothing is worn.
