John Morley is a renowned artist and snowdrop specialist. From delicate oil paintings to intricate woodblock prints, Morley’s art beautifully captures the plants of his Suffolk garden and the East Anglian landscape he has called home for over 30 years.

This retrospective exhibition offers a rare opportunity to view his pastels and paintings of flowers, fruits, and garden plants—many displayed publicly for the first time in over three decades. Learn about his artistic training, teaching, and process and see how this intersects with his passion for horticulture.

In this one-hour tour you will be guided around John’s paintings in a small group, learning about his career at the easel and in the garden. You will see depictions of peas, strawberries, and John’s famous snowdrops from his Suffolk garden, through to pictures inspired by Dutch still lives painted at his studio in Prague.

The artworks in this exhibition will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the Garden Museum’s learning and exhibition programmes.
