In this 3 hour cookery class we welcome back Indian chef and food writer Monisha Bharadwaj to lead you through a hands-on cookery session to learn the secrets of simple Indian cooking.
Join Monisha for this class and learn how to build a curry from scratch, use spices for flavour and wellness and how to cook rice perfectly to complement your Indian meal. This class will show you how to cook with just a few seasonal ingredients to create a fabulous Indian feast.
The class will end by sitting down to lunch together to enjoy everything that has been prepared, with any leftovers boxed up for you to take home!
Sample Menu:
- Turmeric Pulao (rice with spices)
- Paneer Palak Masala (spinach curry)
- Gucchi ka Korma (mushroom curry with cashew nut)
- Tarka Dal (lentils with onion, garlic and tomato)
- Cucumber Raita with Smoked Cumin (cucumber with yoghurt)
This class is a mixture of hands on and demo by Monisha.
Open to all levels of skills and interests. This class is suitable for Adults 18 and over.
*This class is part of our hands-on monthly masterclass cooking sessions, which focus on specialist topics or advanced cooking techniques. Sessions are usually on Sunday and held in the Garden Museum’s new food learning studio. Each class is 3 hours, and will include tastings or a full meal eaten together depending on the course. All profits from our cooking masterclass series help to cover food costs for our community programmes.

Monisha Bharadwaj
Monisha is a trained chef from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management in Mumbai and has run her successful Indian cookery school Cooking With Monisha, situated in West London, teaching her brand of simple, healthy Indian cooking, since 2005. She is regularly a Guest Chef Tutor at Fortnum and Mason, the Cambridge Cookery School and Divertimenti in Knightsbridge.
She is also an award winning author and food historian. Many of her 17 books have been shortlisted for and won several prestigious international awards including the World Gourmand Cookbook Award 2020 for ‘Indian in 7’. In 2023, her book ‘The Indian Cookery Course’ was selected by Taste Atlas as one of the top 150 cookbooks to have shaped and influenced the culinary history of the world.
