In this 3 hour cookery class we welcome back food writer, cook and veg grower Kathy Slack to lead you through a hands-on cookery session of nourishing vegetarian seasonal recipes and to share her story from her new book, Rough Patch: How a year in the garden brought me back to life.
As well as expertly leading you through the recipes, in our dedicated learning studio kitchen, Kathy will share her experiences of how growing food (and cooking it) helped her recover from depression by reconnecting and grounding her in nature.
You will learn tips from Kathy on all aspects of cookery from knife skills to seasoning, as well as how to sow your first vegetable seeds.
Sample Menu:
- Kalette Noodle Salad with Savoury Seed Granola
- ‘There’s always Chard’ Pie
- Self-sufficiency Stew’
- Rosemary and Garlic Soda Bread
The class will end by sitting down to lunch together to enjoy everything that has been prepared.
This class is a mixture of hands on and demo by Kathy.
Open to all levels of skills and interests. This class is suitable for Adults 18 and over.
*This class is part of our hands-on monthly masterclass cooking sessions, which focus on specialist topics or advanced cooking techniques. Sessions are usually on Sunday and held in the Garden Museum’s new food learning studio. Each class is 3 hours, and will include tastings or a full meal eaten together depending on the course. All profits from our cooking masterclass series help to cover food costs for our community programmes.
