A programme of online sessions for people affected by dementia and their companions.
Led by ceramics artist Katie Spragg and supported by volunteers and our Head of Learning these sessions which are usually held in our Clore Learning Space went online from April 2020.
These relaxing weekly online sessions are for people with dementia and their companions and provide a regular creative and social activity.
Katie demonstrates techniques to create objects and sculptures from clay using the Garden Museum’s exhibitions and collections as inspiration. The pieces created are collected from participant’s homes and fired and glazed in a kiln ready to be displayed in the museum or returned directly to our participants.
Thank you to our funders: The Wixamtree Trust, Clore Duffield Foundation, Lori Hayden, Heritage Lottery Fund. We have been able to keep Clay for Dementia running since October 2017. Thanks to Arts4Dementia for partnering with us to pilot the very first sessions.
