This Natural Weaving workshop is part of the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!
There are still so many fascinating plants to admire in our parks and gardens even in early Spring.
In this workshop, we will spend a short time outside exploring the nature that is all around us and collecting small items of natural materials to use in our weaving workshop. This might be grasses, leaves, seeds, herbs, pine needles or even feathers.
We will then tie together a small rustic-style frame using carefully selected twigs and sticks and weave through the foraged natural materials to make a beautiful wall hanging to take home. A simple but effective craft activity to bring nature into our homes throughout the year and to connect us to nature in a relaxed and mindful time together.
The workshop is fully accessible and suitable for all ages and abilities. All tools and materials are provided. Please have shoes and a coat suitable for all weathers.
Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.

Jane Bevan
Using familiar little treasures that she picks up on her daily walks in Derbyshire, Jane Bevan creates objects, vessels and collage from found natural materials. It's the tiny details, irregularities and unexpected beauty of the smallest things that catch her eye, be it feathers, twigs or acorn cups. These are then stitched, tied or assembled into a collection of artworks which embrace and celebrate the natural world.
