This workshop is part of the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!
Paper cutting is the meditative craft of simply cutting shapes out of paper, which we’ll be using to celebrate the changing seasons through art and vegetables! In this workshop we’ll be learning a range of paper cutting techniques which we will use to create silhouette style paper cut vegetables out of black card. We’ll be taking inspiration from the cookbook I illustrated It Starts with Veg: 100 Seasonal Suppers and Sides by Ceri Jones (Pavilion Books), and drawing from a selection of seasonal vegetables. We’ll be using craft knifes and scissors to cut out our silhouettes and you will be able to draw your own design using the lovely vegetables from the garden or cut out one of the pre-made template designs. I’ll also bring my collection of paper art reference books to give some more inspiration.
Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
