This walk is part of the Garden Museum's Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!
Join Tracey Gregory on a special tour that starts at Annapurna cafe (postcode: SW9 7TB), the former Loughborough Hotel pub, which is a few doors down from Nelly Roberts’ House. This tour will explore Nelly Roberts’ life as the Royal Horticultural Society’s official orchid artist. On the tour you’ll also visit where Richard Measures once had his orchid collection just off Camberwell New Road and travel through Myatt’s Fields Park, laid out in Nelly’s life time, by first woman landscape gardener Fanny Wilkinson. You’ll see the changes in the neighbourhood Nelly would have seen in her lifetime, plus her likely interaction with the Measures family, the gardeners and the orchid greenhouses she would have visited.
Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
