Branch Out | Irish Dance Workshop

This workshop is part of the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!

Join Jig and a Swig – London’s social Irish dance community  – for our free, all-abilities Irish dancing taster session. This is a ‘just for the craic’ session, where you’ll be guided through the basic footwork of Irish step dancing, before having a go at some group and partner dances together. You’ll come away with some newfound knowledge about the role of dancing in Irish society and Irish diasporas, as well as some new moves to show off the following weekend on St Patrick’s Day.  Absolutely everyone is welcome and zero experience is needed. Those with two-left feet are actively encouraged! The session will start with a short performance from some of our pro Irish dancers! Come along solo or with some friends, wear some flat shoes and clothes you can move comfortably in. Don’t forget a well-deserved swig after to celebrate. Sláinte!

Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
