Branch Out | Floral Painting Workshop

This workshop is part of the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!

Join British, women-led brand Florere in this workshop on floral painting and design in collaboration with Artist Roz from duo Tipperleyhill. Learn to make line transfers with oil pastel and watercolours, creating beautiful floral postcards.

Using  the beautiful archival botanical prints of Florere, this 2-hour drop-in workshop will explore the art of floriography, which lies at the heart of Florere’s inspiration.

Taking Florere’s prints as inspiration, you will learn to create line transfers with oil pastel and watercolours to meditatively fill in the petals and foliage. You’ll go home with several postcards, more artistic confidence and plenty of tips for painting

During the session, you’ll also have the chance to view Florere’s collection up close, with the founders present to showcase a curated selection of their latest collection.

No prior experience is necessary. It is suitable for all flower and colour lovers of any ability – Roz will bring out your inner artist! It’s all about getting inspired, being creative, and celebrating everything floral!

Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.

Not all art is created equally, but ours very much is. We, Roz and Abi, both work on each painting and illustration we produce, moving from piece to piece on multiple canvases simultaneously. As best friends and artists, we play to each other’s strengths: Abi’s superpower for drawing and composition and Roz’s love of colour, pattern, and mark-making. It’s a relationship based on trust, a lot of fun, and a shared belief that art should - and can - be for everyone.
