This workshop is part of the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!
Monotype is great and accessible technique that allows for lots of experimentation and variation. We will be creating different surfaces and layers using variety of textures and colours turning familiar objects into beautiful imagery on cards.
We will print cards for festive occasions and use different plants as our inspiration. You are welcome to bring leaves, flowers or materials with interesting textures with you, but there will be enough material to experiment with.
A monotype is a print where the ink is applied directly onto the Plexiglas plate, then the plate is pressed against the paper to transfer the ink and transfer the artwork. After applying the ink and before the plate is pressed is where the magic of creating happens. Come and experience it for yourself!
Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
