This Bioplastic Making Workshop is part of the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!
Artist Beatričė Brėdikytė invites you to learn how to make starch-based bioplastic. This biodegradable and compostable material can be used for designing various objects and accessories and can inspire when thinking about nature, materiality and creativity in new ways.
During the workshop, you will be introduced to the recipe and the steps of preparing the material. In the second part of the workshop, you will be invited to experiment with bioplastic and create an accessory or an object of your choice.
For decoration, we will use only natural materials such as flower waste, used coffee grains, orange zest among others. All of these ingredients will be sourced locally directly from florist studios, parks, gardens, or the artist’s kitchen.
Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
