Benton End | Sustainable Tulip Workshop with Polly Nicholson

Join flower grower and tulip expert Polly Nicholson for this special day at Benton End immersed in the world of tulips.

Polly Nicholson holds the National Collection of historic tulips and is the author of Phaidon’s ultimate tulip tome, The Tulip Garden. She will share her passion and knowledge of tulips, looking at everything you need to know to select, collect, grow, cut and arrange species tulips, with an additional look at rare and annual tulips.

The day will start with a presentation by Polly on the joys of growing species, historical and rare varieties of tulips in her own garden, her favourite planting combinations, and how to plant and care for tulips based on her experiences. After lunch, Polly will lead a practical workshop in which attendees will plant up a terracotta pot of species tulips to take home with them.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the house and grounds at Benton End, the former home and garden of artist plantsman Cedric Morris which is currently being restored by the Garden Museum.

The day includes tea and coffee on arrival, lunch, and your potted up tulip bulbs to take home.
