Branch Out | Banana Science

This workshop part of the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more! Join us on Thursdays: booking required.

Have you ever wondered about the humble banana in your fruit bowl? How many varieties are there? Why are they always under ripe or over ripe in the supermarket? What happens when they start to ripen? Why do banana sweets taste so different from actual bananas?

Find out the answers to these questions and more by joining our Plant Science Educator, Samia Qureshi, for a session looking at this amazing fruit that grows on an herb, not a tree! Participants will also have the opportunity to scientifically investigate the Banana, uncovering many of its hidden secrets!

Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England
