Christine Lewis is a botanical dyer and maker. She makes all of her products by hand, using the slow process of extracting natural dyes from barks, flowers and vegetables. Her interest in natural dyeing was sparked by an article about ‘food meeting fashion’ by Sasha Duerr. How could something so beautiful be made with kitchen waste and garden plants? Armed with some old pots and pans, a camping stove and a bunch of carrot tops, Christine created her first dye pot. That was back in 2012. What started as a hobby is now an obsession. She created a studio in her garden next to where the dyestuff grows, and there she does all of her dyeing, drying and making.

Indigo eye pillow
£22.00
Using offcuts and samples from other projects I have created a collection of eyepillows; all dyed with plants and all slightly different to help you relax and unwind any time of the day or night. The pillows are made from hemp linen, with indigo and rhubarb root dyed patches. For laundering they have a removable inner, which is filled with English lavender, organic rice and flaxseed.

Naturally dyed velvet cushion
£60.00
Cut, dyed and sewn by hand, the natural dyed cushion collection offers a timeless, environmentally conscious addition to your home. Bring your room to life with natural colour. I've used weld, reseda luteola; one of the oldest dye plants in the world to colour this cushion. The weld leaves were gathered from my dye garden and steeped the cotton velvet until it reached this glorious buttery hue.
