Humphry Repton: Landscape Gardening and the Art of Memory

Repton was mindful of how he and his work would be remembered, particularly in his later career when his fortunes declined.  This lecture addresses how various forms of memory are expressed in Repton’s landscape vision, including personal memoir, cultural elegy and antiquarian learning, as part his longstanding concern with passing time. The lecture will be given by Stephen Daniels, Curator of our exhibition Repton Revealed.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition when doors open from 6pm, with the talk beginning at 7pm.

The Garden Cafe will be open following the talk serving supper; we recommend that guests book in advance to avoid disappointment.
