  • Permanent

  • £22,000 per annum

The Role

The Front of House Supervisor will be responsible for opening the Museum to the public 5 days of the week, and managing a team of volunteers and casual staff. You will be responsible for recruiting and training around 40 front of house volunteers, drawing up their rota and to be a friendly face for them on a daily basis. The Garden Museum re-opened in 2017 after a major capital project and aims to welcome over 77,000 visitors each year. Visitors see five galleries of the permanent collection which tells the story of British gardens since 1600, and temporary exhibitions in a separate gallery space.

The Museum is housed inside an ancient church, and the medieval tower is open to the public for visitors to climb 131 steps and look across London. It is open from 10.30am to 5.00pm seven days a week, and also has a café and learning centre, which are run by other members of the team. We are looking for an individual who will be responsible for the security of the building and its collections, at the same time sharing their interest in heritage with our visitors. You will report to our Head of Visitor Experience, work closely with our Retail Manager and the newly recruited Operations and Facilities Manager, ensuring the front of house and presentation of the museum is immaculate.
