Robyn has always loved porcelain, especially oriental ceramics, and wanted to explore the apparent mystery of how they were made. After a 3-year course at Oxford City College she set up her own studio at home in 2016. Since then, Robyn has been developing her portfolio of work and learning every day. There are images of my making process in the Gallery. She is an Associate Member of the Oxfordshire Crafts Guild and a member of London Potters and the Crafts Council Directory.

A pair of cups
£50.00
A pair of cups thrown thinly on the wheel in porcelain, so their delicate walls are translucent. The foot is turned narrow, creating a timeless yet also modern shape which is a pleasure to hold in the hand. The cups are glazed in a pale blue-green celadon. These are perfect for a short coffee or herbal tea, but also look smart on display.

Moon jar
£65.00
A moon jar hand thrown on the wheel in porcelain. After turning it to refine the final shape, I decorate around the widest part of the moon jar with slip (liquid porcelain), drawing swift freeform marks with a slip trailer. Their abstract pattern resembles a written script; the energy in the decoration contrasts with the calm simplicity of this timeless form. After bisque firing the moon jar is glazed in a pale blue-green celadon for its second firing, which collects in and around the slip decoration. In the kiln this melts into darker pools, which help to define this dynamic element.
