Branch Out | Into the Wild with Alex Monroe

This workshop is part of the Garden Museum’s Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!

Join us for an informal talk, demonstration and workshop with jeweller Alex Monroe. Alex will be talking about his exhibition, with descriptions of the design and making process. He’ll explain the concepts behind the work and the locations he chose to base each piece on. Alex will talk about his work as a jeweller, as well as what inspired him to make the pieces for this exhibition. There will be demonstrations of the sketching and making process. Alex will be at his workbench and demonstrate some of the techniques he employed to make the work. As a designer, Alex’s drawing is exploratory and forensic in style. We’ll finish with a fun session sketching, drawing and dissecting some wildflowers of choice. We’ll explore how the plants work and how they’re constructed. Everyone is welcome to join in or you can sit, observe and discuss the work with Alex.

Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
