Talk | Rachel Siegfried: The Cut Flower Sourcebook

Rachel Siegfried and Clare Foster in conversation to celebrate the launch of Rachel's new book 'The Cut Flower Sourcebook'

Growing your own flowers for cutting brings the pleasures of the season indoors and cuts out the air miles associated with many shop-bought flowers. Founder of Green and Gorgeous, a flower farm and floral design studio in Oxfordshire, Rachel Siegfried is joined in conversation by House & Garden editor Clare Foster to turn the spotlight on the best perennials and woody plants for cutting and arranging. These hero plants return year after year with little effort or waste, offer valuable habitats to garden wildlife and bring a natural quality to arrangements.

Whether your goal is to have something to pick from your garden each week of the year or start a cut flower business, Rachel and Clare will discuss some of Rachel’s tried and tested favourites as featured in her new book The Cut Flower Sourcebook and will offer advice on how to lay out and maintain these garden plants for cutting.

    Rachel Siegfried

Rachel has worked in horticulture for 25 years and has experience in design, landscaping, nursery work and productive horticulture. In 2008 she founded Green and Gorgeous, a flower farm and floral design studio near Wallingford, Oxfordshire. Here, she and her partner Ashley Pearson grow hundreds of varieties, carefully selected for their cut flower credentials, on four acres of land. The flowers they produce are sold directly to the public through their farm shop, used for wedding work and as teaching material in their popular workshops. Rachel’s gardening background brings a unique perspective which puts seasonality and sustainability front and centre of her work.
