In partnership with Silent Space, every Friday afternoon the Sackler Garden will be a place to switch off, connect with nature and relax in silence.
A Silent Space is an area of a garden or a park, already enjoyed by the public, that is temporarily reserved for silent visiting. At the Garden Museum, our courtyard Sackler Garden, designed by Dan Pearson, will be a Silent Space from 3pm – 5pm every Friday.
Once inside a Silent Space, we stop talking, turn off our phones and cameras, and switch off from social media. There are no other rules.
Whether sitting or strolling, we take time to notice the beauty around us. Even as little as five minutes will help us to enjoy the restorative benefits of being peaceful in a green place.
Occasionally Silent Space cannot happen due to special events, inclement weather and if the Garden Cafe is serving outside. Please contact us on the day to check if it is happening.

About the Sackler Garden
At the heart of the Garden Museum is the Sackler Garden. Designed by Dan Pearson as an ‘Eden’ of rare plants, the garden is inspired by John Tradescant’s journeys as a plant collector. Taking advantage of the sheltered, warm space, Dan has created a green retreat in response to the bronze and glass architecture, conjuring up a calm, reflective atmosphere. This is intended to be a garden in which to take your time.
