Join Christopher Woodward, Garden Museum Director, and Simon Vernon-Harcourt, Design & Restoration Director of City & Country at Sundridge Park, Bromley, for an evening of talks about the Repton landscape and John Nash architecture of Sundridge Park, as well as an exclusive look around the Grade 1 listed building which is currently undergoing sensitive restoration and conversion into luxurious apartments. The talks will be held in the original ballroom of Sundridge Park Mansion.
In 1793 Humphry Repton produced a Red Book of recommendations to the landscape of Sundridge Park, advising that the house be knocked down and rebuilt in a different location, to maximise the visual impact of the design changes suggested. Four years later, he and John Nash designed and created The Mansion at Sundridge Park within a sweeping and serene landscape. The pair would go on to work on numerous projects together, until a falling out in 1800 when Repton’s sons worked for Nash which left their relationship in tatters.
In this talk, Christopher Woodward will explore the ups and downs of Repton’s life and career. Simon Vernon-Harcourt will then look at Nash’s influence on Sundridge Park, as well as discuss the challenges in restoring a Grade I listed building and the creative solutions he and his team have found to preserve its rich history. Guests will then have an opportunity to look around the finished sections of The Mansion at Sundridge Park.
Drinks will be served from 6.30pm, and talks will then run from 7pm – 8.15pm, with the opportunity to explore the sections of the Mansion that have been restored thus far before or after the talks.

Directions
From Plaistow Lane turn onto Willoughby Lane, continue to follow the road, it is quite long but you will see little finger boards directing you to The Mansion. Continue through the golf course and you will arrive at the front of The Mansion, from here a parking attendant will guide guests.
