Secrets from the Stores: The Beth Chatto Archive with Dr. Catherine Horwood
Monday 25 November 2019
11am – 12.30pm
Fresh from the launch of Beth Chatto: A Life with Plants, Dr. Catherine Horwood will guide us through some highlights from the vast Beth Chatto Archive, which Catherine helped Beth to sort back in 2011 and which provided the research base for her new book. Beth Chatto (1923-2018) was a British plantswoman, garden designer and author best known for creating the Beth Chatto Gardens in Elmsted and for her influential principle: ‘right plant, right place’. Beth won ten Gold Medals at RHS Chelsea, wrote eight books and numerous columns, and lectured internationally. Her archive is both personal and professional in nature, and Catherine is the best person to reveal it to Friends.
