Kiftsgate Court Gardens: 100 Years of Women Gardeners

The Garden Museum will celebrate Kiftsgate Court Gardens and three generations of talented female gardeners in an exhibition showing from 9 April to 9 June 2019. Heather Muir spent 30 years establishing the gardens and was succeeded by her daughter Diany Binny, followed by her granddaughter Anne in 1988. Each plantswoman has tended Kiftsgate for a third of a century, building upon the legacy of the previous generation.

Using material from the family’s archives, Sabina Rüber’s stunning contemporary seasonal photography and a film by Peter Kindersley, a taste of these historic Cotswold gardens will be brought to life in the Museum. The exhibition coincides with the release of a book by Vanessa Berridge titled Kiftsgate Court Gardens: Three Generations of Women Gardeners (published by Merrell).

Kiftsgate Court Gardens: In Conversation
Kiftsgate’s current guardians Anne and Johnny Chambers will be joined at the Garden Museum in conversation with Vanessa Berridge, author of Kiftsgate Court Gardens: Three Generations of Women Gardeners (published by Merrell). The talk will be chaired by Tania Compton, garden designer and writer, and Trustee of the Garden Museum.

Garden Visit: Kiftsgate Court and Rockcliffe House
Experience the gardens in person on this trip to the Cotswolds. We will be introduced to the gardens by Anne and Johnny Chambers during morning coffee, after which you will have the pleasure of exploring it for yourself. Followed by an afternoon exploring the gardens at Rockcliffe House, owned and created by Garden Museum Trustee Emma Keswick.
