Houseplant Festival Talk | Catherine Horwood on Retro Houseplants and what we can learn from them

This talk is part of the Houseplant Festival, which runs 23-24 October 2021.

Are you obsessed with houseplants? You’re not the first. For the Victorians, it was the aspidistra in the front parlour, the Edwardians loved a palm, and for today’s millennials, no home is complete without the ubiquitous fiddle-leaf fig.

Come and hear Catherine Horwood, author of Potted History – How Houseplants Took Over Our Homes, talk about the fascinating history of our obsession with indoor jungles. She’ll show how potted plants are as much subject to fashion as any piece of furniture in the home and tell us what will be the next ‘must have’ for Gen Z from the indoor gardening world.
