Join us each Thursday throughout August to cook recipes inspired by the edible flowers in the Flower Fairies watercolours. Each week we'll focus on two of the fairies.
In the final workshop we’ll cook recipes inspired by the Poppy and Blackberry flower fairies.
Poppies themselves can’t be eaten but their seeds are very useful, producing a light crunch to lots of dishes. We’ll be making crackers and adding them to salads. Late summer is the perfect season for blackberries in the UK, and what better to do with them than add to a crumble.
- Parmesan and poppy seed crackers
- Carrot and poppy seed salad
- Blackberry crumble
During the workshop we will learn about these ingredients, flavours and uses as well as practicing our knife skills, and learning how to follow a recipe. At the end of the session we will eat everything we’ve cooked!
The course will take place in our food learning studio. All food and equipment is provided and the session includes a light vegetarian lunch.
The cooking workshop is ideally suited to children aged 6-10 accompanied by an adult. However if children have attended one of our cooking workshops at the Garden Museum before and are aged 8 and above they may attend unaccompanied.
We will be hosting a cooking workshop for this age group every Thursday in the school summer holidays. Check out our events page for news of other classes.
Tickets £3* per person, per day (Children and adults need a ticket).
*This class is subsidised to keep prices affordable.
