Allotments at Clapham Common
Clapham Common was one of the many parks that were turned into temporary allotments during the Second World War. With barrage balloons overhead, civilians dig up the grass in preparation for planting. A.S. Hartrick was a water-colourist and illustrator and this work was commissioned by the Ministry of Information to publicise Dig for Victory.
