New Collecting Cultures acquisitions

In 2008, the Heritage Lottery Fund launched a funding programme to assist museums in acquiring new objects to develop their collections in particular subject areas.

The Garden Museum was one of twenty-one museums to receive a grant under this ‘Collecting Cultures’ scheme. The grant was to enable the Museum to develop its collection of art and design.

The Museum received just over £60,000 to spend on new acquisitions. This programme, which ended in 2014, has allowed the Garden Museum to acquire over one hundred works for its collection.
