Dyeing with Plants, 08/03/2014 and 05/04/2014
As part of our exciting partnership with London College of Fashion, we are hosting a workshop in natural dyeing techinques.
LCF student and dye expert Susie Wareham will take you through the steps to create your own beautifully dyed textiles, using only natural materials and sustainable processes. This will be a hands-on workshop including a walk round our local green spaces - including our neighbouring Archbishop's Park - to forage for the best of Lambeth's plants and flowers. You will then be able to use what you have found to steam dye an item of your choice - a scarf, apron or tea towel - which will be supplied for you, ready and prepped to dye.
Take a look at the timetable for the day:
10.00 Welcome at Garden Museum with tea & coffee
10.20 Head outside to explore and forage for dye materials
11.45 - 12.00 Back to Museum to prepare your materials and out to our steam-dye station in the greenhouse to dye your item
13.30 Collect your fabrics and share what you have made with the group over a cup of tea
Tickets £45 Friends and Students, £50 Non-Friends (Including Lunch)
The workshop on Sat 8 March is now sold out.
We will be running another on Sat 5 April
