Flower Power at the Garden Museum
On Monday 6 June, a group of supporters joined us at the Garden Museum to celebrate becoming a part of the 'Class of 2016' as supporters of the new Garden Classroom at the Museum.
As part of the Garden Museum Development Project, we are building two new learning spaces, a Garden Classroom for London and a smaller Learning Studio. The Classroom will be able to fit 30 pupils which means that for the first time we will be able to welcome secondary school classes to learn about horticulture and botany. More information about Learning in the new Museum can be found here.
Guests donned floral hard hats designed by Shane Connolly and listened as Evan Davis of Newsnight and Dragons' Den interviewed students from the gardening club at Saint Gabriel's College in Camberwell about their favourite plants, and spoke to Mr Burke, a science teacher from Bishop Thomas Grant School in Streatham who told us why being able to take his pupils to study plants in a location close to the school would be so beneficial to their understanding of core aspects of the GCSE science curriculum.
Thank you to Evan Davies, the students and teachers from Saint Gabriel's School and Mr Burke from Bishop Thomas Grant School Lotty Muir and the Cocktail Gardener team, Glo Productions, Construct Films, Sin Bozkurt and Shane Connolly for helping to make the evening so special!
Below are a number of photographs of the event. If you are interested in finding out more about the Garden Classroom or how you can become a part of the Class of 2016 supporting the Classroom, please contact Kezia Evans, Development Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
